The Mobile Tiny Store is here!
A few months ago Natalie "accidentally" purchased a 1976 vintage trailer and has been renovating it over the summer to transform it into the perfect Mobile Tiny Store. A few weeks ago it had it’s maiden voyage out East to the Hamptons and received some serious love and exposure at our favorite Montauk boutique hotel Haven.
Here's how our Tiny Store came to be:
Natalie : So, I had been looking at vintage trailers obsessively for a couple of years. I had bid on a few casually here and there and in the process accidentally did a lot of research. I knew what I was looking for but wasn't ready to pull the trigger. Then one day I saw and bid on a very cute canned ham trailer conveniently ;) located in Indiana. I placed a bid not really thinking I would win and then...um...time expired and I owned a 1976 Empire Trailer. I was so fortunate to meet these 2 super nice People from Retro Popp RV and everything worked out so well! The hardest part was calling my husband and telling him, "We won!". He immediately said, "What? and Where?" It's good to have a practical party in the family :).
Man, I love a good road trip. There's nothing better than rolling the windows down, blasting music, and just remembering what it feels like to be mobile. Sometimes the city can be so stifling as soon as you hit the open road your soul just becomes so free.
For our playlist we looked for songs about America which reminded me of one of my favorite songs, "AMERICA" by 'Simon and Garfunkel'. So I played that and then realized there had to be an amazing cover by someone brilliant out there so I stumbled upon 'First Aid Kit's' cover of this epic song. And we were set. When I got the camper it was in pretty good shape, but definitely not the color scheme we needed. She basically needed a cosmetic makeover. I pulled together a lot of images and came up with a design concept with the help of my friend Zach Bliss of Blissmade.We decided to go with a very clean concept with nods to the beach and the desert. The idea was for the jewelry to pop against a cleaner background. We couldn't be happier with our beautiful tiny store!
Renovating was fun but took a lot of time throughout the summer. I basically was a weekend warrior working every weekend while parked in front of my house in Brooklyn. The neighbors were certainly curious. We're in love with our Tiny Store and we plan on going on tour. We’re still coming up with our route but most likely headed south for the winter and will keep you updated on the latest travel plans and if we’ll be near you so you can come chill and shop.
