It would be hard to express the influence Frida Kahlo has had on on me as an artist and designer and the world at large. Her bold choice of style announced her presence to all who would see her. It is arguable that Frida herself as an icon is one of the most recognizable people on planet Earth,showing us the importance of personal style and the transformative power of dress and accessorizing. A rich marriage of Mexican style and a unique approach to traditional dressing defined her for the ages, and provides inspiration for the powerless to become powerful. This spring I took my inspiration from the early pictures of Frida when she first came to America and began to make a name for herself as more than the wife of Diego Rivera, and became a powerhouse to be reckoned with in her own right.
